I'm really scared!!!!

Was meant to be going Norton Heath on Sunday for my first affiliated competition on my new horse and jumping the 90cm but there was a mix up with the classes (our fault) so my friend who was taking me will only be going on the Saturday now.

She said i can go with her on the Saturday but the first class starts at 1mtr

I haven't jumped a course this height on my new horse yet (even though she is capable of it) biggest we have jumped is 95cm and that was only once. I have also only taken her out about 4 times and not done that much jumping at home.

haven't been to an affiliated show in over a year so i am a bit nervous of the fact we will be going straight in a 1mtr. She is only 4yo as well but nothing phases her and she has never stopped with me so dont know why i am so nervous. We have jumped bigger than this at home.

Am i mad or should i just go for it?? I know once i am over the first jump i will be fine.

Kelly, there was a time that 1.10m was the start point for all horses in affiliated SJ'ing, and then it came down to 1m and stayed there for quite a long while. Now they've introduced 90cm....a luxury for the nervous rider / 'not really affiliated SJ'ing material' type horses

If she is jumping well at home around the 1m+ mark, and you are confident in yourself, then there should no problem at all. You'll never know if you don't try it

I think you should "go for it" especially as you admitted that once you have jumped the first fence you will be fine!
Rambo will be there for moral support!

Good luck!

She is more than confident at that height (a little too confident on occassions LOL) its just me being a jerk and i dont know why

We jumped the 95cm at Limes and they were well up to height and some were 1mtr and she jumped a brilliant round. The best she has jumped actually so god knows why i am pooping myself LOL

I know she wont stop so thats not an issue.

On Trike you could put a house in front of us and i would try it (ok slight exageration) but on Senza she is a bit more psycho.

I agree with Rambo but you should only go if you are confident in both your abilities. If you feel it is too much too soon then she will pick up on it and you don't want to risk an upset this early in her career. By asking the question in the first place you are obviously not sure.

There will be plenty of other days.

Erm....actually, we might not get there that early as it's the first class

We're not jumping 'til the 2nd....

We can both definatly do it, we have jumped that height at home and i have never felt her struggle or felt worried etc.

I think its coz its our first 'proper' show if that makes sense

There is also clear round from 8am - 8.45am, which will prob be a bit smaller. It might be worth doing a round first before you do the class. But agree with above, if you feel confident jumping over 1m I would just go for it and I'm sure you'll be fine.

I am goingto Norton Heath Saturday, what is the firt class then is it a 1m open?

Im taking my 4yr old and the one I have to fitten up to do teh clear round so will prob be there about 7.45ish!

I was thinking of doing the clear round first but she always jumps better in her first round so didn't want her messing up in the actual class.

Think i will see what happens when i get there, not feeling quite so nervous about it today

Good luck Kelly

I would be taking mine in at that height, just a small problem with NO RUDDY MONEY to compete atm!

As long as you feel that BOTH of you are capable and confident at that height then do it, but if you feel at all out of your depth I would wait and take her somewhere you can put her in a slightly smaller class first

Good luck tho

I couldnt quite understand the schedule is the first class an 1m Open then? if not what are the restrictions??

Will prob just end up doing the CR on them both, going to school the 4yr old round the ring then pop a few fences if she seems ok!! So need to make sure im on her and ready to go in at 8am!

Only restriction for Class 1 is that you mustn't be ranked in the Top 450 ! So yes, to all intents and purposes it's an Open class
