Has anyone been thrown off a livery yard? If so, what reasons were given and did you try and do anything about it to stay or just accept it?

My friend got thrown off her yard for buying her own hay and not from the farmer.

She went there and then and came to me as a stop gap.

No, there was no contract at all. He was charging stupid money and she found better quality for less. He warned her that if she took the bale out her car she would be thrown off, she called his bluff, he told her she had 24 hrs to get off. Man was a w%%r anyway.

yes and no. I knew my old YOs for 20 years. had worked for them at weekends and kept my own horse there for four years. Some stupid woman starting making up stories (i.e. she couldnt muck out as i had gone off in a strop and left the tools in my stable. 1 i did not leave them in there and 2 if I had then they were my personal ones anyway!) and saying i was never going down and she was feeding my horse, etc, etc but was completely two faced as to my face she would be too nice. So, as I only saw her at most once a week I just ignored her, knowing i would blow a fuse if i spoke to her. She goes crying to YO that im being a bitch. I go on holiday, someone she still tries to blame things on me even when I am away and, although they didnt believe that stuff, they believed everything else. Also, my horse was hit around the face when I was away as "he is horrible and tried to kill them". The other woman said it was either her leaving or me so I said I would leave but would give proper notice etc. Their answer? YOu have three days to get out.

No, I didnt do anything to try and stay as I was already going to move him this year (fed up of being slated if I didnt take YO's advice on something) and always being gossiped about. As it happens YO is still asking my mate about me and my horse and it really bugs me as it really is none of her business.

Frigging nice aint it?? anyways, am on a much nicer and happier yard now and both me and horsey are happy :)

Yep! YO thought I was having an affair with her husband! Have no idea where she got that idea from as I obviously wasn't, she went completely loopy and kicked me off.

Went to another livery yard that day and explained the situation, funnily enough he welcomed me with open arms ;)

Ha ha ha!!! like this!!!! Sorry, poster you probably didn't realise how hilarious this reads!! :) :) :) Sorry, its probably just me and my wacky sense of humour here.

Yep, at one yard I got my notice given twice  Once for not poo picking my field one weekend when I was on holiday and had asked YO to look after the horses.. Clearly they didn't! I fought back and they retracted it. Then my instructor came down the driveway at 10mph (as per the sign on the way in) but it was too fast (the sign on the way out says 5mph... ). Again I thought it was ridiculous so fought it and gave my notice a few weeks later as I'd had enough of feeling sick every time I went to the yard in case I'd done something wrong.. Again

Yep Leg-end I know that feeling! And trying to avoid YO's to avoid lectures for everything under the sun! When I left they asked where "happy sam" went. "Happy sam" was too fed up of being brow beaten and is now back with the new yard :)

I asked someone to leave when I ran my own yard. She caused no end of trouble for the other liveries causing some to leave etc best thing I ever did. Quite amusingly when I did it she then decided to tell me she was 'thinking' of moving etc so basically made out it was her choice lol

Sort of. I requested to change my horse from working livery to full livery because he was being used excessively for lessons - he was such a good boy he was ending up being used for up to 4-5 hours a day when others with nutty horses never got used. YO refused because she didnt have enough suitable horses to cover the gap. Big row ensued - I left/got thrown off - same thing.

Yep twice (kind of)

The first one we were chucked off a yard (were given 3 days to move) as the YO/farmer fell out with my dad (over a pretty livery who he had the hots for, and my dad was sniffing around (most tj do with me as I was 16, and dad was paying the livery costs :/

The 2nd time was after the elderly YO got fed with the 20 odd liveries as a whole - some not cleaning up after themselves, bitching, unruly horses and then the final nail of some peeps not locking the gate after themselves at night. We were given 2 weeks, and the day before I was due to leave she asked me and 2 others to stay (which we did).

Me personally, I have actually got a great reputation as a livery :)

I was, the YO's boyfriend said my name in his sleep (apparently ), YO convinced I was having an affair and told me to go :o.

The stupid thing was that YO had just been on holiday and boyfriend got drunk and slept with the lodger (who was a friend of mine so I couldn't say "no actually it is her" whilst pointing spidery finger at my friend :o).

It was 30 years ago now  and I still remember the injustice of it.

Boyfriend was a creep anyway :p
