A horse on my yard has just had its feet trimmed and upon this being done the farrier noticed horrendous thrush. The owner being very novice I feel didn't notice this for two reasons, she doesn't pick it's feet out! And two she's to dam scared of the thing to do the first. Upon being told of this she has used purple spray and its feet have been picked out by another yard member. It's that bad it's black apparently and stinks. It's in both front feet. It's constantly stamping its front feet.
My question is how infectious is thrush, to other horses ?
The same horse also has mites which is again concerning althought said owner has used pig oil n sulphur (I believe this donesnt work) again how infectious are they to others?
Advice has been given and help but owner seems not to take on advice.
