Seems to be one thing after another with my old boy, now has something very perculiar going on with his feet.

Initially I thought he had thrush, smelly and a bit of black discharge.. however its now moved on and he cam in out of the field lame in the week. I picked his feet out, all around the frogs on both front feet were very sore, the frog now seems to have gone very soft and almost white to look out. I have been cleaning it out with hibiscrub and using catle cleansing purple spay, but nothing seems to be improving... now worried about it spreading further !!! :(

Any suggestions/ experiences greatfully received. I will be calling the farrier out next week (going away now this weekend), but could do with some advise!!!

I have had two horses like that, clean out really well, and pack with sudocrem, and slowly the frog will heal and fill back in.

Sudocrem is so underated for thrush, its amazing stuff.

Sorry to hear your old chap is having a bit of trouble. This is very messy (& might sound a bit off the wall) however try putting Manuka honey on his frogs/ heels. My chap had something very strange going on with his feet a year or so ago and I read a thread on here re: Manuka honey and I have to say it worked a treat (& very quickly too). Hope it soon clear up and you have a a great weekend away. Sxx

Maybe its deep frog infection, for which animalintex works well to draw the pus. Wet to dry (and hot to cold) animalintex poultice affected feet, redressing every other day until poultice clear. To prevent thrushy feet, derbymed spray is excellent as a barrier and lasts a week unlike farmers antibiotic sprays.

Think sudocrem has a great placebo affect when used by horse owners for every condition under the sun. Highly reccomend!

You underrate sudocrem moosehunter as it contains 2 active ingredients which treat irritation and infection. It is useful in many mild conditions. If you need something similar but with a bit more welly there's nothing to beat biteback sweet relief cream or frogwell spray.

Stockholm tar is and always will be, the best treatment. It is incredibly effective. 3 days generaly solves the problem. Vets and drug companies cant make any money from it and so they choose to ignore it and go for fancy expensive (and less effective ) remedies.
