Thrush/ Heel Crack - Advice Please

My farrier’s advice when my horse had this was to use a cotton bud soaked in antiseptic to clean it out then use a washing up bottle of very dilute antiseptic (Miltons/ salt water/ whatever) to flush it out very thoroughly then leave it open to the air and keep the horse on dry footing so in on clean dry bedding or out if the ground is dry. It worked perfectly. I would not pack anything in the crack. The bacteria are anaerobic so depriving them of oxygen is exactly what they need to,thrive.

I don’t know if are using a different concentration or had horses with worse thrush but I know 6 or so horses that had thrush vet / farrier said treat with iodine regularly. Few weeks later horse is throwing itself around and doesn’t want feet picked out. (Previously fine to handle feet).
however often are people treating these horses? a few weeks later? I don't wonder they are throwing themselves around.

Iodine is a treatment not something to use regularly.
