Thrush or something else?

I picked out my pony's feet today and noticed the central sulcus is really wide in both fronts. It looks (to me) clean, doesn't smell, not particularly soft or anything considering its done nothing but rain for weeks . The hoof pick doesn't go in to the frog any further that what you can see if that makes sense? I gave it a good clean so I could take a picture and pony got bored and pulled foot away. So sorry for the mud on the foot, its the central sulcus I want you to look at.

Farrier is out next week, but if it is thrush I want to start treating it asap before it gets worse.
Any thoughts?

Thanks

I noticed the exact same thing on one of my pony's front hooves last weekend but put it down to him being on a new field and his feet being cleaner so it being 'normal' but previously mud covered (even though feet were always picked out)

Quite probably wrong but its certainly not causing him any trouble as far as I can make out

I have been lavishly applying Kevin Bacon hoof ointment to all feet recently anyway so not unduly worried
