So after 2 years of trying I have gotten my horse re-shod in front. I feel absolutely devastated and defeated but I know at the moment its what he needs as he is so uncomfortable. So please no bashing me for re-shoeing as it was such a hard decision for me in the first place.

However, he still has hinds off as I would never want to re-shoe behind but he is pretty uncomfortable and not sure what is the root cause. I believe its his frogs as they aren't that hard and he has a bit of thrush although he has negative palmer angles and also long toes and low heels so its all contributing. I have red horse field paste and artimud and they are okay but don't seem to be combatting the thrush. Does anyone have any recommendations? Something for his front feet too in shoes to make sure bacteria isn't building up!

I have g2 old macs for his hinds but the straps rub his pasterns and he also wears a threw them because he toe drags so I am in a catch 22 really as hes too sore over stones without anything and if I put boots on him he destroys them? So anybody have any recommendations for hind boots for less than ideal hoof shape and toe dragging!

Many thanks!

Yeah I have looked at that before. I have just ordered some Silverfeet as I have heard good things about it!

IME it is Cleantrax that really clears thrush up, in one go. It is a faff with buying the boot, and having to use two bottles.... but it really works.

Get frog cut away to enable deep treatment and use blue Cyclo spray (needs prescription). You may need to pack with gauze to ensure penetration of product. Found that this solved the thrush issue once and for all - was deep central sulcus - and once frogs had grown back could keep on top of it. If yours is collateral would still cut away and use the blue spray (am a bit of a fan!)

I use it on TBs soles as well as helps harden them - he is also reshod in front but like you am resisting behind. If I can keep his soles hard then he is far more comfortable.

Just read up on Cleantrax and it looks really good too.

Hoofboots - used Old Macs so sorry nothing to suggest.
