Hi

Horse had shoes off for winter and has a bit of thrush that needs treating - what do people recommend? Not something I've dealt with first hand before - not a bad case, just a bit black around the white line.

Hoping to keep shoes off long term this time around so really keen to get this right!

Thanks

Hi AFB. Get strong iodine, mix with sugar to make sugardine. Poultice the hoof with sugardine paste pressed into all of the crevices, put on a newborn nappy and loads of duct tape. Works perfectly.

Spray with tea-tree oil spray (Equimins or Oz-oil). My farrier recommended Red Horse CleanTrax but there was a 2 week delay, while they waited for stock. In the interim, I sprayed with tea-tree oil and by the time the CleanTrax arrived, the fungal infection had cleared up.
