Hi Guys,
My unshod gelderlander seems to struggle with stinky thrush. I have used hydrogen peroxide to treat it previously and I thought I had got rid of it but in all but one hoof but it seems back with vengeance today. Suddenly stinky hooves.
He lives out and has his feet picked out daily. I'm. Hoping one he comes in at night next week it may help, but any advice on treatment or prevention?

povidine iodine scrub for 5 mins, then terramycin spray. do the iodine scrub daily/every other day for a week-then twice weekly-followed by spraying (once feet have dried off from the scrubbing somewhat). my last horse came with bad thrush and this was the only thing that got on top of it, he would get footy with it too. I use field paste with the others as a preventative but it didnt sort that horse's thrush out at all-bringing them in overnight does help-especially onto straw I found.
 
When one of ours had a bit of a fungal problem in the white line, we spryed with tea tree oil, while we waited for the "clean tracks" to arrive, we never needed to use the Clean Tracks as it cleared up completely with the Tea Tree Oil, our farrier, who considers hydrogen peroxide to be smoke and mirrors, was very impressed with the improvement. :)
 
Red Horse Field Paste applied weekly to a clean dry hoof, pressed into the sulcrus centre and sides of frog with my fingers and thumb, is working well.

Mine live out 24/7 and it provides an antiseptic barrier. Hoof must be dry otherwise it doesn't stick. I pick out feet, scrub with bristled hair brush and water, dry with a towel and apply paste.
 
I've cleared up mild thrush with Red Horse Products. Also No Thrush powder is worth a go but only used it on a horse that was stabled overnight.
 
Red Horse Sole Cleanse Spray. Fabulous stuff. Had tried backtokill as well and didn't shift it but finally got it going with this spray.
 
Another vote for a Red Horse products. Hoof stuff got rid of deep central sulcus thrush in a couple of months that had been on/off for years before.
 
No product advice but sorry to say that the worst cases I've come across have been in a yard where all horses were in 24/7 on rubber mats and a variety of (non-straw) beddings. All mucked out fully daily and skipped out on pretty much every poop. Pretty much the whole yard had it... So, I wouldn't rely on coming in making much difference, although I can see that (clean) straw might help in theory and try something else pretty immediately.
