Thrush

my vet told me to use 1 in 10 solution of domestos and then put antebac over the top.....but beware if your horse is sensitive like mine it eats away at healthy tissue....my boy now has a heel bulb infection with a double dose of tnp, n a hole in his foot!!!!

Where did you get that from? I was looking for that in the Summer, but could only find it on line in the USA.

Purple spray is good for thrush. I used the Nettex Hoof Master, because it comes in an aerosol can with a very narrow nozzle, so you don't get everything puple and it penetrates the flakey bits of frog better. Their Frog Disinfectant is effective as well.
A good scrub with diluted Milton works as well - gives a very satifactory fizz. Othe people have told me - iodine and peroxide.

Milton! 1/2 milton 1/2 water... put it in every time you pick feet out, if it's, soak in a bucket for 5 mins if you r horse will stand still with feet/foot in buckets! Cheap & effective!

trim the frogs back well, pick out twice daily at least, scrub with betadine/hibiscrub and a hard brush every day and leave to dry, then apply Engemycin antibiotic spray. (Also sand is an irritant)
