My boy has had thrush following 8 weeks of box rest in all four feet, backs worse than fronts. His frogs have also all shed/flaked off and his feet look horrid at the moment! I've never had to deal with a horse with thrush before so just want to make sure I'm on the right track really.
Farrier is booked to come out. Feet are being picked out twice a day and then purple spray applied (it was this or hibiscrub - only 2 things I have to hand!) - 3 feet now looking better and no longer smelling awful but right hind still smelly and frog flaking away (looks white/flakey). I have red horse field paste ordered, waiting for it to arrive. His manky box rest bed has been completely removed, stable disinfected and a deep bed of aubiose put back down.
He is already on a low sugar diet as he suffered a couple of bouts of lami earlier in the year. Hard to comment on lameness due to this specifically as he's just had surgery but he lets me poke around in his feet with no reactions pain wise.
Is there anything else I need to do/think about? Any advice to encourage his frogs to grow back? Just feels like one thing after another at the moment!
