Thsoe that Know ALW Novice

In the last novice course there was only a trakhener, which is normally used in into/PN as an open ditch, but they put a log above it for novice!

Go and have a lesson with Nigel , we have never looked back, there are loads of ditches there and he will have you jumping them. There is a coffin and an open ditch that is narrow at one end and wide the other and lots of trakeners, just depends where he puts the course but the trakener that they take the log off for prenovice and intro is quite big

Unfortunately don't have time for a lesson before the event. B is away and not back until 28th which then falls into the 14 day period.

May be a good thing to do another time though.

She loves trakheners, the bigger and scarier the better!, perhaps it's because she is half trak.

I've done the N there countless times and never come across an open ditch that I can remember, just the famous trakehner which is jumped towards the lorry park so only stops the really ditchy... Always a first time though, I guess...

Oh well fingers crossed then!

Have been out ditch hopping too, the coffin at Buckminster gave her a nasty surprise (it was ditch rail ditch on an angle) and now she is wary of them, never had a problem before. She is ok usually with ditch pallisades, traks and hanging logs, she just thinks there are trolls in the ditch and has decided it's best to have a look. Hopefully fickle mare that she is it's over with now.

Here is a pic or two of me at ALW having a lesson with Nigel over the trakehner and the ditch at the end of April this year. First time we have been there and it was fab. Only my horse's 3rd time schooling - and he is an 18 yr old exBSJAer!!

Hope this helps!! Sorry the pics are HUGE!!

One of the trakenhers, with the log on the bottom hole!

Had a great lesson with Nigel and he was very confidence boosting and said some very nice things esp that he thought my horse would easily go Intro and even Novice!

The Buckminster fence was horrid wasn't it! Funny how a reverse coffin can be so different (and much trickier!).

There wasn't a coffin on the Novice track at ALW last time I was there (not last week, the event before that).

In fact I can't think of a Novice sized coffin there at all - only the little one in the schooling field.
