Thumbelina - the world's smallest horse - is on a world tour raising money for sick children.

My heart bleeds for this little lady. She is talking to everyone but no-one is listening.

She is also starting off a VERY alarming demand for dwarf horses. People who know now better and many who simply don't care want one of these ponies for a pet. Scum bag breeders are actually trying to breed these geneticly malformed ponies to meet demand.

Sorry to say it but I think if any of those were mine they would have been PTS at birth or very young as soon as problems were noticed. I can't believe the size of poor Little Bits tummy, it must have put such a strain on his back.

Poor Thumbelina looks so unhappy in that video.
 
Unbelievable! If they were mine they would have been PTS, that lady actually let that poor pony go through so much s*** his whole life rather than putting the poor animal out of its misery and putting it down, sick bunch of c***s!
 
That is hideous. I looked at all the pics and there is not one pony there that I would not have had PTS straight away. What the hell are they thinking of?
 
Thats very very worrying that people think this is accetable?

Any horse lover can see that those poor ponies couldnt live a anykind of normal life with such a serious physical burden but they are kept alive.

The strain on their joints must be so exsessive and took at how loose the tendons and ligaments are.

The pony in the first clip is a very angry distressed little pony and if you must put a pony on display like that it should have a much bigger pen to be able to get away from being poked so much by spoilt kids.

Poor little thing where ever is went it couldnt get away, so very sad.

I am extremely surprised that owners have allowed this to happen?! they were all for ensuring that she was never moved on and never sold etc, and not encouraging dwarfism which is very common in the mini world....seems they are just cashing in...

Not a happy pony....I feel a letter coming on, bloody americans!!

This is ridiculous! Surely the number of photographs of deformed foals should be telling these breeders something- seems they think it's ok to breed them like this because they've found a "solution" in these magic shoes.

Poor little Thumbelina, she looks so unhappy.
 
think you are a bit lost here......dwarfs are not as a rule bred deliberately!!! lets damn hope not anyway,

She was not deliberate....but dwarfism is quite common where minis are very popular in america, hence i have stuck to english breed cross with my lot than the american route, however I entirely agree she should have a quiet private life and not be made a ruddy circus act, poor thing.

OMFG Some of those photos made me feel physically sick. Even after the 'correctice' shoes they weren't right and the fat on some of those ponies is appalling. The kindest thing would be to put them down at birth. The owners should take a long look at why they keep them alive.
 
It is awfull if people are deliberately trying to breed these misfits, but it is very similar in dog and cat breeding also, boxers, bulldogs, persian cats the list goes on and on....
 
Gaited horses IMHO are horrible. These dwarf horses have issues - if you want something that small get a dog.
 
It's okay if it does it naturally like an Icelandic but, correct me if I'm wrong, I'm sure those shoes must be damaging! And you should know, GTs.

Poor little lady

Why are these deformed ponies not put out of their misery? No 'normal' sized horse would be allowed to carry on with such awful limb conformation, why is it acceptable in horses the size of dogs??
 
I am horrified, their original bit in the mail made out that they would be giving her a quiet life!!! Money, root of all f'ing evil, I do agree that dwarfs arising out of the american (mainly) quest for breeding smaller and smaller to perfection is not necessary.

There are height limits for miniature showing and I didnt even check when buying my english minis what the heights were and they are well within it.

Dont diss minis they have their place, but I guarantee there is not as much dwarfism in England....and dwarfs in the uk are the exception rather than "common".

It is fairly easy to trace the dwarfism gene, and those people that bred this poor mite must have known there was a chance....hmmm.

I dont think any english breeder would be "proud" of a thumbelina type horse. English breeders tend to want everything in miniature and refined but still healthy and looking like a "horse in miniature" rather than a deformed pony.

Its so sad she lived so long in a way!

Absolutely appalling !!! The poor little girl is clearly distressed.

I hope the trend dosent catch on with the so called A List celebs, its bad enough seeing the likes Brittany & Paris carrying those poor little distressed dogs everywhere.

I notice that most of the distressing You Tube extracts publised on here originate from America, say no more, thankfully there are new laws that are trying to combat this and other animal abuse.
