Maybe it has already been said before but wouldn't it be good if there was a LIKE or THUMBS button on here. It would make if far more friendlier just to acknowledge that we have listened or taken in advice and if its a THUMBS DOWN then we would just have to explain why.

I didn't know where to post this BTW?

See, I don't like it... I think it doesn't take much to click the quote button and say "I really like this!", or even just the quick reply and mention the username...

I spend ages writing out reports and things, and to be honest the posts afterwards saying that people appreciated it makes me feel like it was worth doing. I think introducing the like button would probably just encourage people to stop posting.

There's also the problem that when there are those massive argument threads, a 'like button' could really just throw fuel on the fire, I think. People have to actually stop and think of a reply currently. The like button shows support easily without requiring much thought, or for the people liking it to stand up and be counted, as it were.

So yeah. I think I am literally the only person on HHO who thinks it's not a great idea, and there's plenty of other stuff they could do first :)

I'm with Lolo too. The thing I hate most about Facebook is the 'like' button. If somebody appreciates what I have to say, I'd rather they said so, then clicked the stupid 'like' button. I've made posts on FB before with over 30 'likes', but not a single comment, and it infuriates me. It's killed conversation...

Lolo, you are not the only one (literally or otherwise ;)) who thinks a like button would be pointless. I also do not like the "thumbs down" idea at all, it would be abused and used for all sorts of nastiness.

And me Lolo , I'm with you too. When people was making suggestions to HHO Admin about changes to the forum some months ago, as I recall, my reply included a part about that I think Like buttons would lead to less replies on threads, but probably also more trouble on other threads, due to replies referring to HHO cliques (as in replies saying "X's replies only gets more Likes because HHO is so cliquey...")

But on Facebook you can at least see or find out who has pressed the Like button, I remember one place were you could press Like or Dislike buttons anonymously, every now and then there would be new posts about or mentioning that people had pressed the Dislike button on their previous posts, sometimes wanting to know who it was, sometimes telling people about why it was wrong of people to disagree with their opinion etc.

That said, if HHO does get Like and Dislike buttons, I will probably use them, sometimes instead of replying myself. :o

Another forum I post on had a dislike button. It was awful- people were using it to get back at each other, people got upset because they'd been disliked... not good.
