Tick prevention on horses

Hi, I've recently moved my horses to a new yard, and am having an absolute mare with the ticks on my two TB's chest / faces - the two ponies aren't as badly effected but they have much more hair on their faces, so think the ticks aren't able to attach as easily. I don't mind removing the odd one here and there, but we're literally talking 5-10 per day (if not more!). As it stands, I've applied some Leovet Power Phaser roll on around their muzzles, but because it contains deet, it's too strong for their sensitive faces (bloody TB's!) and is making the skin sore / burned, so I've not continued. Does anyone know of any topical treatments that are available and effective, or is there the equivalent of Frontline, like there is for dogs?! I've been trying to google it, but drawing blanks. I have the stuff I dab on back of the dog's necks every few weeks and it works a treat - need the equine version!!

Thanks very much.

Spoton or spontinor for cattle and sheep, its not liscensed for horses but of your in a high risk area the vets may dispense some for you, if not ask a local farmer is they can supply any, do try a patch test first though. We use dysect on some of the sheep and and out of all the products we use it creates burns on the fleece and skin far more often than other products. It is also carcenergenic and sits on the hair or fleece so you will be exposed to it when ever you handle the horse.
We dont use it on sheep that will be handled in the next 4 to 6 weeks as you still feel the effect of it for that time.
Spotinor is used on lambs and calves from 24hrs old with no issues and is absorbed into the body fat so your exposure is much reduces.

Can you get hold of something like crovect? Works well to repel ticks from our sheep. Otherwise I've used tea tree oil on my ponies noses, seems to work as I haven't found any ticks on bumbles recently. Also helps repel flies :)

Be careful with pour-ons. My old mare had a reaction to a pour-on.
Thank you - I will definitely patch test given her sensitivity, but she has 15/20+ tiny ticks on her this morning, across bum, chest and muzzle, so I'm fairly desperate for something properly effective!!
