Hello,
I have a small wriggly long haired terrier who is nervous of vets. She has managed to get a tick about 1cm above her eye! Any top tips for removal?
I can usually manage to trim the hair near her eyes, and clean them, but she is not keen and it does takes time and treats. She does not stay still for long (not long enough to fiddle about with a tick remover).
She is muzzle trained (because scavenging) so I am thinking muzzle her, shove a treat through and then get a helper to hold her still - will this work? Any other tips?
Thanks!

Well done! My youngest terrier recently had a tiny tick above his eye too which was too small for a tick hook but was obviously bothering him. He is normally the sweetest boy but was really distressed with us trying to see it and was rubbing his head a lot. We ended up taking him to the vet too, it took two lots of sedation, Mr EM, me and 2 vets to remove it. It had obviously died with him rubbing his head so that made it more difficult to get out.

Yikes, that sounds nasty - I guess I was lucky then! Must be a terrier thing - she does love to shove her nose into all the corners to see what’s hiding.
