My hairy lad is really ticklish round his legs and armpits...can you do anything to make him less so? He snatches his legs up - not kicked (yet :s) and has once shoulder barged me into a wall.
Ticklish / Sensitive Horse - can you desensitise?

Aa, my hairy is also reeeeeaally tickly but he absolutely LOVES being scratched/massaged and groomed! He'll stand for hours and wiggle his lip in the air and groom you back.
Sometimes he does almost demolish the entire stable block with his scratching, and it terrifies me that he'll rub chunks of mane out at times, lol, but other than that it doesn't cause a porblem.
Have you checked his legs for mites and scabby bits? If it's concerntrated to his legs then thats what I'd suspect, in which case it'd need treating.
Freddie is itchy all over so I think it's temp changes and moulting that does it, so we try and make sure he gets some naked time in the school for a roll and for his body to cool down, and make sure he gets a good groom to get all the dead hair out.

yep - ive checked him and the vet no scabs scurf or sore spots!!

Cappy is really ticklish, he used to lift his leg, not kick but threaten to. We solved it by figuring out that the brushing needed to be quite hard rather than gentle. This stopped the tickling and solved his problem. Hopefully it may work for you too if it is ticklishness.

thanks fanyduchamp - its notso much the grooming - its if i try to do anything delicate - like trim long hairs or anything i have to be a bit careful with (with scissors lol)
