Ticks!!

Hi all, I have got a scruffy hairy funny looking cross breed that comes to the stables with me and runs off through the ditches, hedges and long grass so as a result he has had some ticks I have removed the ticks that i found with the little gadget that gets the head out as well and given him a dose of front line but he is now left with scabby hard lumps where the ticks were.

Are these lumps normal?

Don't know - I removed with the twisty gadget from the vet, don't think he got lumps - didn't see any through the fur anyway. Sorry, not much help.

When I lived in Germany my dogs were always getting ticks and whenever I removed them they were always left with a lump. It usually went down after a few days.

Yes absolutely, my dog to a Tee!
Try PracTic either from your vet or get them to give you a prescription - its cheaper to buy it online. I gave my dog anti- histamine tabs, one a day, to get rid of the scabby itching too until the PracTic kicked in. My dog is tick free now, but unfortunately rather smelly as you can't really bath them much after applying the stuff, otherwise you'll need another tube even sooner! About £10 per month!!!
