Hi All,

Me again!

Any thoughts on what it's like to live near Tidworth? Potential house is just outside with 4.5 acres of land so has a lot of potential!

I've never been to Tidworth, but from what I've read/Google maps it's obviously very military.

Thoughts/feedback/yes/no I would never live there would be fab!

I used to live in collingbourne ducis

yes it is all a little bit weird, you get used to seeing tanks/tank tracks/your windows humming when they are having some sort of practice.
PM where the land is as might be able to tell you more about that bit?
fwiw I loved wiltshire and miss it dreadfully, to the point that 2 weeks ago I went on holiday to wiltshire up on the marlborough downs etc.

Look very closely at the local layout. If you have to hack along the main road to get onto the plains it won’t be a pleasant ride

OH was based at Tidworth for a bit and is actually potentially where his next posting will be (although I didn't live with him when he was there before). It's OK, the surrounding villages are pretty and there is obviously a lot of land. I stayed with him for 6 weeks whilst I did an internship in Salisbury. I will be looking for livery if we do end up there if you fancy a well behaved mare as a grass livery ;).

There's a lovely pub in Collingbourne Ducis called The Shears. We would drive there all the time, the food was lovely and in a beautiful old building.

Tidworth is an Army town, it's a bit rough around the edges, lots of squaddies and squaddie wives (oh joy ?). I used to work there , wouldn't like to live there. But if you buy a house in the outskirts, the countryside is lovely. Just a shame if you have to go into Tidworth for your shopping etc.

I used to pop to the army camp sometimes with work. Bit dull there tbh. My ex army husband is sat next to me and I've just asked him to describe Tidworth. He said "heavily garrisoned with masses of soldiers' and 'blink and you miss it'. As others have said, lovely surrounding areas. The larger area is lovely, but just Tidworth itself is pretty depressing. I wouldnt choose to live there myself but then if my dream property was there, then perhaps I would.
