My 6 year old had a tie back in the states as a two year old before he came to race over here. As far as I know he has never had any issues since apart from not being able to neigh (bless him!!)) but the past couple of nights when I have brought him in from the field he has has green slime coming from one nostril and it looks like it has partly chewed grass in it. It's not a huge amount but just wondered if a vet visit might be in order?

since july of last year he seems fine in himself and I haven't noticed this before. He is fine to be exercised and doesn't seems to be making any noise.

Hmm....I'd keep an eye on it and maybe keep him off the grass a little while before you exercise. It's quite normal for a small amount though, because the larnyx is being held open it's quite easy for some grass to find it's way through. If you find it's causing problems or getting worse, ask the vet to have a look.

When my mare had hers, I was told I might have to keep her off grass before exercise or even altogether if this was happening, but they were talking about large amounts of grass coming through the nostrils, not just a little bit now and again.
