Going to try a hack out with my neice today leaving the companion under watch by my mum.

She's pair bonded with one of the pony we're taking out and will be alone.

My mum has just asked "tie her up and groom or leave her loose?" because she's a jumpy pony I don't think tying her up is a good idea as she may end up getting herself in a tizz and hurting herself and my mum.

Is leaving her loose in the paddock ok? We have no stables.

If your mum is used to handling her then I'd get your mum to tie her up and groom, if the pony gets silly then she can always let her go and it will just have to be ok. If your mum's not confident then you'll have to let the pony run. I assume your fences are up to the job.

Cool thank you! :D

Well it worked out great, we went out expecting to be called back after 10mins because Fuzzy hadn't settled but we were out for over an hour :D Mum said Fuzzy called for Pippa for a few minutes and then settled down to the bribery hay we'd given her before we left ;)

My neice and I had a fantastic time out we even had a little gallop which she loved (she told my mum about it 3 times when we got back ha ha!) and both Loki (who she was riding as he's a gentleman and very safe) and Pippa - aka speedy gonzales - were very well behaved :D

It's beautiful hacking out there and one day I'll be brave enough to take my camera for a few pics! I'm such a clumsy person I'll probably drop it within 5 mins ha ha! ;)

So now we know Fuzzy will be ok it's opened up a world of hacking possibilities, my mum wants to go hacking with me and now we can and if I want to go out with the sharer I can :D I'm a happy girl! :D

Thank you both for the advice! :D

It's handy when it works out like that! Soon your other one will barely lift its head when you take it's friend away I bet!

Yes I think we've been incredibly lucky with our lot really, we've never had too many issues and they all seem relatively chilled out for the most part - touch wood! :)
I was actually expecting a lot more fuss and work before we could do it as the pony and my mum's mare are pair bonded and even riding in our "school" Fuzzy makes one hell of a racket and she's right next to us! Really pleased that she took it all in her stride though, clever little pony!
