My horse hasn't been ridden for months but hopefully will be coming back into work soon. Vet says he is tight in his back just on one side, I think he has always had this. Eperiences and remedies for horses with tight musculature in their loin region?
Thanks.

In response to this and your other question, I would want to start with a good physio without sedation, this way you should still get the benefit, if once treatment has started if the physio feels the horse is not responding you have the option of sedation if it is really necessary. Find someone that is fully qualified and you can trust, I am lucky my physio lives close by and is very good, she does not like working on a sedated horse and will only do so if absolutely no other choice.

I would firstly have a good physio/chiro. My lad was tense in same area and I got a massage pad. Work great. Recent chiro visit says he is now fine

hi my horse was tight behind the saddle and compensating by hollowing and his dorsal muscles were flat and tight. after a mctimmony session the difference was amazing! i now do loads of stretching exercises every day and before i ride and the difference is really remarkable ! he really swings through his back end now hes working more comfortably and im now getting bounced out of the saddle when we jump.(quite literally!:D)

Hi both my horses get tight in this area from time to time. Old lad is prone to it because of his conformation and hock spavins. Younger girl probably due to conformation as slightly long in back and finds it harder to engage hind quarters.

I use a brilliant physio, stretches and magnetic back pad. Also lunge mare with a tail bandage round back end to encourage her to use her back end.

My boy was like this so we now have the McTimony out every 3 months and I bought a Equilibrium massage pad fantastic we hunt twice a week fast jumping country he has never felt so good.I owe this to my boy as he look after me greatly across country.
