Tiguan or kuga?

I have a ford Kuga and I love it! It quite happily tows what I need it to (ivor Williams box and my 14.3 mare).
A few things however; if you are planning to tow with it bare in mind it only has a towing capacity of 2.1ton. So really to be on the safe side you only want to be towing a box and one light-middleweight horse. Also the 4x4 all wheel drive on the Kuga is an optional extra not standard. Be sure if you're planning on towing it's a 4x4 model you get. I managed to get a 4x4 one with a tow bar already fitted 😁
 
Why buy aTiguan when the Skoda Yeti is the same car wearing a slightly different dress, cheaper?

I don't tow with mine but it's a great car.
 
I tow with a kuga. I have a bateson deauville and a 58 kuga it has a towing capability of 2.5 tons. The bateson is a lot lighter than an ifor and that was what swayed me. I usually only have our 14.2 cob in but have travelled 2 16 handers with no problem. This year it will have 2 cobs in it. I've had the car from new and other than tyres and brakes not had to spend anything on it. I have a detachable tow bar, but don't usually take it off. I absolutely love it and its a great family/dog car too.
 
Love my Tiguan. Towing capacity 2000kg and I usually tow a 15hh connie in an ifor505 but put a second same size horse in it today for the first time and it was still fab, no trouble with hills. Wouldn't tow two on motorway though as too close to max limit for my liking.
 
I tow with a Tiguan and I love it! I have an IFOR 511 and my mare is roughly 17hands, bare in mind though that because of the weight restrictions you can only really tow one horse and you need to take into account the weight of the tack etc. If you are buying a Tiguan it would be better to get the off road version (which is what I have) it has a towing capacity of 2.5 tonne while the normal Tiguans are 2.2 I think. I know it doesn't sound like a lot of difference but it really gives you a more confident feeling knowing that you have that extra wiggle room!
I have never had an issue with my mare, the tiguan tows beautifully and has never let me down.
 
Thank you everyone! I normally tow with my OH hilux so the car wouldn't be towing regularly.

Think the kuga has a bigger boot?

ROG I have done my trailer test thankfully! Have one 16.1 WB (lightweight) and if or 506, would like to get something that can tow as much as possible - just in case!

Would need to be 4x4 also.....really can't decide!
 
Just to add to your dilemma - what about a Kia Sportage? New ones have upped the tow weight to 2200 kgs.
