Tildren IV for Navicular

Hi there

My horse has been diagnosed as having Navicular in 2 front feet, we think largely bought on by stress of collapsed heels. He had the Tildren IV on Wednesday but was wondering how long the effects of this (if any) can be seen.

When first diagnosed 6 weeks ago the farrier put pads on his feet but I think they made him worse as he was pointing front feet, very short stride in front and generally not happy. The farrier has now put him in heartbars and I *think* he looks better, certainly more comfortable in these/ following the Tildren/ combo of both........ or maybe that is wishful thinking.

Anyway, for those of you who have had experience of Tildren as treatment for Navicular how long was it until you noticed a difference (if any)?

Our boy had this only a couple of weeks ago. My understanding is that the horse should feel immediate relief but I'm not a vet. Maybe you should speak to yours? Our boy is still on box rest but can be walked in hand from tomorrow for short periods until he's brought back slowly in 2 weeks time.

Tildren takes some time to have effects (cant remember exactly how long, but its a long term treatment) - the difference you are noticing now are more likely to be farrier's heart bars. Have you tried egg bars - they are generally used more than heart bars for navicular (heart bars tend to be mroe for laminitics) - he could also shoe your horse more upright to take a bit of pressure off the deep digital flexor tendon which runs over the navicular bone.

Hi there, my horse got diagnosed 3 years ago and she had Tildren and had her bursa joints injected. After her two weeks on box rest she came out sound and stayed sound up until 3 months ago. I am currently saving up for her to have the treatment again. Good luck hope you have a good result. Liz

hi there, my horse has had tildren, started a couple of years ago needed 2 doses 2 months apart at first then pushed out to 6 months & has recently gone 9 months - I felt a gradual improvement at first but now when i get him topped up i can feel results almost straight away
