So my horse had Tildren recently (bone spavin) and interested in rehab plans. Vet has suggested a 4 week plan (long reining, treadmill and light hacking). Do we need to stick to walk for a while? He’s feeling fresh so not sure how successful walk only will be! Interested in experiences. Many thanks

You'll need to follow your vet's instructions , not because of the Tildren but because the horse will be weak and unfit.
If the horse has been out of work for a bit , then 4 weeks of walk work sounds about right.
Thank you. He had the Tildren but no advice on rehab so carried on as normal a couple of days after he’d had it for a couple of weeks until he had arthramid injected a week ago. Now have the rehab plan and it was mentioned that rehab is prolonged due to the Tildren and worried we overdid it initially and hope it won’t have done any harm ?. Will stick to walk for now if he’ll behave.

Agree with this. My vet recommended one day off after Tildren, then back to normal hacking (we mostly hack anyway). That was for a reasonably fit horse in work. We've done this twice now (Tildren, day off, then back to hacking) and absolutely no ill effects....so I wouldn't worry too much about yours having overdone it.

I would be genuinely interested to know why "rehab is prolonged due to the Tildren" as our vet (who I trust completely) has never mentioned this - what's the reasoning behind it, do you know?

Thank you so much. That makes me feel better. Luckily we didn’t do as much as we normally would as it became too icy so he had some days off too. Vet mentioned it was due to metabolism of bones and it would work slowly over the next 3 months. Long reining and light hacking recommended for the next 3-4 weeks. Perhaps with the arthramid in mind too.
