Horse was worked up for lameness last week, nerve blocks, xrays, trotted in circles etc etc whole process around 3 to 4 hours. Although the xrays were pretty clear vet thought there were the beginnings of arthritis in her hocks but it was barely visible. Due to this he thought about tildren for her, although he had never used it as he said he never felt it was worth it on the other cases of arthritis he had seen as the arthritis was to far gone he felt in this case it was worth it. So it was administered via an intravenus injection over around an hour on Wednesday and there were no side effects. I am unsure of how long this will take before any if any improvement will be seen the vet seemed to think around a fortnight. I saw her trotting in the field to-day and although slightly lame she did appear to be moving a lot more easily after a few steps or maybe i am just looking for something that is not here. MY QUESTION IS - has any one used tildren and how long did it take to see improvement??? or no improvement.

I swear by tildren, my horse got navicular and i decided on tildren after i think 1 month of went back into light work, took my time with her and 4 years later still sound!!! anything is worth a try!! what may not work on some may work on others, every horse is different. wish you all the bestxxx

Another who swears by it! My mare has had it twice, once in September 2012 and another in August 2013 (the second time was only a top up while I still had the insurance money to spend) but it has worked wonders for my horse! She has Ringbone, DJD, sidebone and slight navicular changes :)

My horse had three lots of tildren before the 12 month claim ran out just to get as much inside him as possible during that time - not because he was particuarly in need of the three lots. It was effective but I prefer the fusion with ethanol, which I wish I had had done in the first place.

But tildren did bide my horse with lots of additional time which I have been grateful for.

My horse got side effects, although not too bad, he was quite colicky and depressed afterwards and it seems to get worse which each infusion. Also he wee'd in his bed for england, another common side effect.

Good luck I hope it works, but you might like to think about fusion with ethanol if it doesn't.

You have to remember tildren does every joint threw the body just not the one that is injured. You have to take your horse to the vets and they drip it slowly into the vain which takes about a hour, the horse stays in the vets for a few hours later for monitoring has it does have a common side affect of colic if any sign of colic shows they do inject a drug to stop the colic going further. If you ask the question if i would use tildren again to help any of my horses it would be a big yes!! i would speak to your vet and try and find out what you need to know to put your mind at ease, my horse had just 1 dose but i was told by my vet that sometimes they do need 2 doses, hope that helps you xxx

Another thumbs up here. My cob had an arthritic flare up at the end of July. The xrays showed that the arthritic changes had just started, hence him being in absolute agony. Thankfully, good old NFU paid up as they always do (thank you guys, you are fab), and hes had regular catrofen injections, plus his hocks, neck and left knee have been medicated with steroids and hylauronic acid, plus a tildren drip and he's on Synequin now as well. The tildren, plus the injections and cartrofen will be repeated next year before my claim runs out.

He has gone from at best retirement as a lawn mower, to at worst PTS as he was in so much pain, to me being able to ride him again. At 21, I am just so pleased that he is fit and well again. He has been turned back out with the herd and is loving life, and I have been told I can get back on him and start riding again next week. He was fairly fit before his flare up, but he will just be taken back to basics and it will all be built up gradually. I now have a very happy boy, and I am a very happy owner. Now its interesting to hear that tildren makes them pee for england as he was sedated to have the drip, which was done at our yard. It was done in the late afternoon so I left him in for the night and I had put a clean bale of shavings in just before, and they were sodden in the morning, and most of the new stuff needed removing. He is not a very 'wet' horse usually, as he always pees in one spot, not all over the stable, as this was, so now I know.

My vet did explain the side effects, but he seemed absolutely fine, no colic, and he was full of it the following morning when he was turned out, practically towing me down to our turnout. I would definitely recommend it, if you are in a position to need it for your horse. I gather its expensive though, my vet quoted me about £500, but it was worth it for my horse.
