Just wondering if any one can advise the best way of removing a tilt cab on a leyland daf roadrunner F reg
Old one is rotten so have bought a N reg to replace with.
Not sure best way to lift off from the body as will be using strops and scaffold pole, just don't want to twist new cab.
Looking forward to any suggestions.

Cheers

You are letting your self in for a whole world of potential problems and drama. Nothing is going to undo easily , lots of wiring (dont think for a moment that the plugs on the cables are going to simply unplug ),air pipes ,the steering . Hinge pins. Lining up the new one , not breaking anything, and most of all ,not getting hurt!. If you were an experienced lorry mechanic ,you wouldnt need advice ,so my advice is ,Buy a complete chassis cab, and transfer the body or pay someone to do this.

Can only concurr also are you totally sure the cabs the same as I seem to remember at some stage the chassis rail spacing was changed. You need to check they are identical before you start. As mike says a job like this if you have to ask its probably not something for the amateur as you really need safe lifting equipment or somebody gets seriously hurt.

Totally agree with other two.

But if you really want to give it a go, borrowing a telehandler (with driver who knows what they are doing) would be about 200x better than poles and strops.

A total nightmare job to do even if you have the right cab and you are going to need to source loads of new parts to do it.

Thank you all for your comments yes we are using a front loader to take the weight etc and yes we are mechanically minded and do realise that it's going to be a pain to do was just wondering if anyone else had already done one just to give any pointers.
