My farrier is great he cones on time does a good job and will be out if he can in an emergency....

But as we have less horses now he is getting a bit pissy he won't listen and will make inappropriate comments etc.

My boss wants us to change but im nervous to tell farrier. I know it's the right thing to do, he has had me in tears several times and if I ask a question or say that's not being shod etc he gets stroppy at me and treats me like im thick. Im really fed up!

What would you do in this situation?

Well, he obviously does not need the custom or he wouldn't be so rude to his customers.

I had a rude farrier, gave me a set of "rules" in a poem to abide by which was amusing.

There are many farriers out there happy to treat customers with respect and there are also those who like to think that they are the ones providing a favour, not a service. Don't ever feel like shoeing a horse is a favour for you. What they chose to do in life is nothing to do with you. You pay for a service and you should get that fair and square.

If I were a hoof care professional, I wouldn't dream of treating my customers this way. Thankfully, I have met some wonderful farriers who are only too happy to help. Only two have soured me.
