Took otto to his second BSJA comp yesterday. After his debut performance I was feeling very confident. Oh dear

Warm up he was a bit of a loon charging to his fences but finally managed to settle him.
First class he started rushing again so really slowed him down and made him wait for the fences. Jumped clear but 2 time faults due to my actions. Still managed 5th as only 4 clear rounds.
BN he jumped beautifully. Perfect rythm and didn't touch a pole. To say I was stunned when I got 1 time fault is an understatement. NO WAY was he slow

Watched a few go round and the only ones that got inside the time either cut corners or were moving excessively fast for a first round. Had a chat with course builder but time still stood.

Am qual he just rolled the style in the first round. Total rider error as I had got a little complacent about his jumping and let the engine disengage on the turn in.

So all in all the results just didn't reflect how well he was jumping.

Perhaps I should change my name to 'TimeFaulter'

me thinks a trip to keysoe on wednesday might be in order

Quite a good day though?

Yes it was. I reminded myself that he is still very green and in his 7 rounds of BSJA so far he has only had 1 rail and that was my fault. A record most would be pleased with.
It's just so frustrating for a horse to jump as well as he did but not have it reflected in the result.

Didn't realise it was you....we chatted quite a bit about time faults as that was my objective for the day (not to get any!!)

.
Anyway, I thought your horse was lovely and seemed to be enjoying himself. We had time faults in the twisty BN, but came 4th in the 90cm AM as I kicked on a bit, which was quite scarey as I don't do speed at SJ....think my eventer was a tad confused!!

Hopefully see you again soon!!

Thank you, am very pleased!! Will see you soon, I think you come to the livery yard where I keep my horse to use the school, or train a couple of your clients?? (I was chatting to them yest as well....between us J and I managed to snap a pole in the warm up!!)

So frustrating but at least the horse is jumping well

I remember a class last year where nobody jumped clear within the time allowed. I was clear jumping but 6 time faults
shocked.gif
Would hav won the class if the time was right. The coursebuilder and show centre wanted the time allowed altered...but the judges wouldn't have it

I'm guessing your horse is opposite a golf course?

Thats what annoyed me a little. It was so obviously in error but wasn't changed
crazy.gif
Not the first time I've seen it happen and I'm sure it wont be the last. I shall be moving up to XC speed between fences in future

I did get a consolation prize though. Apparently the sec and one of the judges were discussing show jackets and voted my new one (purchased for £40 at YHL) the nicest in the show.
So at least I won something even if it wasn't official

Indeed he is....he's the orange one

Yes I did use the school to train a few friends but apparently some of the liveries complained when we had 3 horses in there (once) so we no longer use it. We now take them to moulton on a tuesday evening instead. Shame really as our yard is all of 2 minutes from yours

Some liveries need to get a life and get over it!!!
Those of us that compete and ride regularly usually ride at 7am before work so I can guess straight away who made a fuss....so petty IMO but its what some people thrive on unfortunately!!!
