Time for Tena Lady

I got laughed at by a doctor when I first mentioned I'd seen tibial nerve stimulation in the daily mail. Now it's a NICE approved procedure on the NHS !!

Even my professor didn't mention TENS, yet clinical trials show it helps at least fifty per cent of people who try it.

It's great to share stuff like this on a forum. I hope it helps you, guys.

I am so glad I found this thread. I am off to see consultant for the umpteenth time next week. The advice I have been given has been very confusing. 2 doctors have told me opposing opinions! I am not keen on the sling operation (because of my fears that the mesh will disintegrate or rub )or botox (see other posts) and although exercises have helped I would like to have more improvement. No-one has mentioned the implant or TENS alternatives. I will ask about them.

I'm with a Professor Smith, a national expert, and surgeon, and he is refusing to operate on anyone except as a last resort because of the number of people who find it actually makes things worse, he told me. I get compete floods twice a month or more, and he won't even contemplate operating on me.

Good luck with the TENS.

Thanks so much for starting this thread OP, and to those who have been so open. I thought it was just me who was suffering for not having done my post-natal exercises very rigorously! I don't have a mechanical problem, just an oversensitive bladder, and I find Urestemol works well. You can buy it over the counter in Boots. I think the dose is 3 per day, but I take 2, and when I stop taking it (because of course I don't need it any more because it's worked!) the effects last a couple of months.......until it wears off and things get bad again so I remember to start taking it again. I also use Tena Lights. Tried the Waitrose own brand and hated them. I'm definitely going to have a look at the TENS.
