Time for your tips - share your secrets

I'm sure everybody knows this, but baby wipes over the coat and for eyes etc, rather than tackshop wipes. Also furniture polish for manes and tails.

Has anybody got a receipe for a good coat shine conditioner?

When preparing your horse for shows don't waste your money of 'Horseshave' razors for trimming muzzel hair etc. At £5+ for a pair they are far too expensive. You can buy a pair of shavers, made by the same company, identical in every way save colour for less than half the price that 'Horseshave' cost.

(Must confess I am connected to this seller ;))

A few drops of lavender and tea tree oil in bucket of water. Drop all your grooming kit in and the dirt rises to the top of the water. Leaves them smelling lovely, clean and disinfected.

ohh thanks, currently have my grooming kit sitting in the lounge awaiting a clean and I have been wondering what to clean them with ... that's my evening sorted :)

Use a hot glue gun to repair small holes/rips in covers, cut a square of material from an old rug and slide behind the hole/rip squeeze glue under and press firmly, then run glue over the where the edges have joined. Does a great job.

Do you not get these in UK - they are seriously cheap

For those people with horses that have heavily feathered legs, don't you use wood flour to dry the feather after washing the legs? It does a beautiful job of absorbing the moisture and fluffing the feather once it has been brushed out just before entering the ring.

I won't say where I get them from for obvious reasons however they are identical to Horseshave, made by the same company (a Swedish Company)& to the same design. Literally the only difference is the colour.

Horseshave are just greedy on the profit they want to make. I don't make much on them but I do make a little. Sometimes I think I should increase the price because I'm sure people see the advert & think they can't be any good at the price I'm selling them at? I assure them they are identical. What's more I'm fed up with people trebling the price of things just because they are labelled 'Equine'. I'm content with a small profit & buyers (in excess of 500) are very happy.

I've sent whole boxes to New Zealand, they are really happy with them & it pays for them to buy from me & ship them out there! :)
