On my last livery yard the contract stated

"Prior to the commencement of the Services the Client will pay the yard a Deposit of £150 which will be retained by the Yard for the duration of the Term. The Deposit will be repaid to the Client within thirty (30) days of the end of the term provided all Fees and any additional sums to repair any damages are settled."

I had to give six weeks notice which I did, in writing, on 28.08.24. I paid the six weeks livery due on 30.08.24.

My pony was moved on 11.09.24. I'm just a bit confused about when I should expect the deposit to be repaid. Is it 30 days after the six weeks notice has elapsed - either after the 28th or the 30th?

Opinions welcome!

I would say that sounds like it would be returned within 30 days after the 6 week notice. So notice given end of August, 6 weeks later is mid October, meaning you should get the deposit back by mid November.

Are they approachable for you to check?

The term of the livery would be to 6 weeks after notice given. So 28/8 + 6 weeks.
Contractually you would expect the deposit back within 28/8 + 6 weeks + 30 days.

Realistically you would hope that if there was no dispute on either owed livery or damages that you would see the deposit returned soon after departure from the yard.

Have you asked the YO?

I'm trying to avoid that. I do have to send my bank details so I'll try to find a way to phrase the question tactfully.
