Time off after physio

I would go purely on the advise of the physio. They normally let you know what you should be doing for the few days after. Sometimes that envolves rest, sometimes gentle work and occasionally just carrying on as normal.

Thanks, I'm of that view to. There's a few horses being checked at our yard later this week (inc. my loan horse) and someone was saying they'd give their horse the weekend off even if nothing was actually done.

Wondered if this was standard approach.

My physio actually encourages people to ride their horses within 24 hours of having her out, so that improvements or otherwise can be detected.

Obviously this is only for general check ups as the OP's original question. Would go with physio's recommendations on anything long term/severe.

Mine had her back done this morning; there was nothing serious but she did have some work done on her neck. I'll be riding tonight but probably just thinking about long and low work keeping the muscles as stretched and relaxed as possible.

Last time she had her back done though, she was really bad and the physio said to give her 3 or 4 days off then just lunge for about a week.

I have my mare regularly checked by physio. He generally tells me what to do. Normally it mans time off though! Last time however it was carry on as normal but no fast or hard work or jumping. Guess it depends on the nature of the problem. With her back she was off for quite a while.

Thanks all, I will ask physio but work on the assumption that I may not be able to ride over the weekend.
