OK so a general grouse really - sorry!!

Put two identical equine items on Preloved. Both exactly the same, both the same price.

Someone got in touch to say they'd like to buy the two - and we negotiated a price. I went to the Post Office specially as I wanted to see how much it would cost so I could let the potential buyer know.

I also researched how much it would cost to send by other couriers as the price given by the Post Office was by Parcelfarce and it was far too pricey IMO - eventually coming to a very acceptable price by My Hermes where I could take the parcel to a nearby garage/shop who were acting as a Drop Station for My Hermes.

All going nicely so I thought, so I contacted the potential buyer again, to tell them that I would pay the postage, PLUS as they were buying the two items, would drop the price down to £70, as they were buying the two.

I politely requested that as this was the offer I was making, then please would they "do the Paypal bit" and supply their address so I could post it off. Simples I thought.

Since then I have heard nothing back from them, sweet FA.

OK so not a huge "timewaste" - and nothing I know to the way people mess you about if you're selling or loaning a horse - I have in the past loaned out my cob and boy oh boy did that attract every timewaster, fruitcake and downright loo-lah in the area and beyond.

But just having a minor grouse and swear basically. I've got better things to do then faff around with people who just see something they fancy on Preloved or wherever and then just see it as an opportunity to give other people the run-around. What TF is the matter with these people?

Anyway, freshly made choccie-cake (with cream) to all those who've got this far.

Anyone else want to have a rant about a timewaster?? Feel free. I'm listenin':)

I only respond to two things on Preloved, "when can I come and view it?" and "how do you want payment?" . Anything else is usually a time waster IME so I ignore it. The place is full of kids browsing without any means to pay.

Maybe this is where I am going wrong I emailed 4 adverts asking for a few more details before I made the decision if the horse was the one for me to save wasting everyones time didn't get one reply!

I have been there with items for sale the most annoying thing is holding an item for that person for them not to pay for it or give you some excuse as to why they don't want it. You could have sold the item in the time they have wasted your time!

Hey - I've tried to give things away on Freecycle and still people don't turn up when they say they will and don't have the decency to let you know that they don't want it anymore!

Don't hold anything. Ignore peoples promises and sell to the first person who hands over the cash. If you haven't got the money in your hand (or bank account) its not yet sold!

This ^^^^^. It particularly applies to livestock.

Not sure what to do about people who don't turn up or are late. I think specifying a precise time is an idea but that often doesn't work. I am always tempted to leave a note on the door, "I knew you wouldn't be 30 minutes late, so I've gone out" but I suspect I might come home to find the house broken into and the place stripped!

Don't use paypal if you can possibly avoid it - it's just too easy for the unscrupulous to open a case and demand their money back!

Gosh its a minefield out there!!! Yes have heard the scam re. Paypal and people saying they've not received the item and then wanting their money.

Am waiting in (again!!!) at the mo: someone is coming to view an item I have for sale............ hopefully not yet another timewaster!!!

WHY do people do it? I just can't understand it.

I had a lady rung about a horse I had for sale but could only come on a set day which was my working day, not a problem I said if your defiently coming I shall book the day off work and bring the horse up to the stables unless u want to see her caught, horse was in a field a few miles away. No was fine to view horse at the stables and that day was set with a time. I went to all the effort of booking the day off and walking the horse to the yard and she never turned up, even a txt would have been enough but no nothing. I rung but wouldn't answer my calls so I left a snotty voice mail for her.
Preloved is classic, I always get the same person responding to all the ads but never turns up or buys anything, I never respond to her anymore just laugh when I see her user name
