I think, that by modern standards, I might be one.

In 2022, if you ask for the price and don’t then buy the pony, you are completely wasting the seller’s time. Despite THEM being the ones hounding YOU! It’s bloody exhausting.

I’m tentatively looking for a step-up pony for the children. 13.2/14hh, 4 ish year old that I can bring on myself. Given that most ads don’t have prices on, you have to ask. Conversations then go like this:

Seller - he’s £5.5k
Me - sorry that’s more than I’m looking to spend. Good luck with him ?

Now to me, that’s the end of it. But no.

Seller - well what’s your budget?

Isn’t that completely irrelevant? Obviously far under £5.5k or I’d ask if they’re open to offers. So I generally don’t reply. Then:

Seller - what’s your budget? (Again)
Me - £2-3k for an unbroken ordinary pony
Seller - I’m open to offers what’s your best offer for him?
Me - I haven’t seen him and I’m not going to start making offers. Good luck with him
Seller - <sends more videos>
Seller - he’s well worth it
Seller - are you interested? Open to offers.

And I just ignore. If you’re going to take 2.5 for a pony advertised at 5.5 then you’re either a CF or there’s something up with it. Or both.

OR it goes like this.

Me - please could you send me some side on pics of the pony for sale?
Seller - <sends pics of pony showing some major confo fault, camped out, of just not my type>
Me - thank you, not really what I’m after but best of luck.

Again, this should be the end of it. BUT NO.

Seller - <sends lots of videos>
Me - thank you but I’m not interested
Seller - why? He’s what you say you’re looking for?
Me - just not for me, thanks
Seller - <more photos>
Seller - open to viewings, why not come and see him?
Me - because it’s fugly and you’re 4 effing hours away.
Not really. But that’s what I’d like to say!

I currently have one seller leaving me voice messages telling me all about a pony I’ve already declined, and another constantly asking me if I’m still interested after I said it was too much.

If there were any coming up I’d just go to the sales with the trailer and come back with whatever is sound and smiles at me.

Or does anyone know of a nice pony?? Pref unbroken.

Rant over anyway ??

I've got a 16.2 veteran. He's absolutely lovely! No, really, once you meet him you'll fall in love immediately.

Hello?

Hello?

I can't believe you aren't interested! What a timewaster!

This is one I’ve forgotten!
Me - How old is it?
Seller - 15
Me - Sorry I’m looking for something well under ten so it can be passed down through all the children.
Seller- He’s very young for his age and has many years left in him.
Me - what, like 10 years of PC and hunting!? Really!? REALLY!?

Obviously in reality I just ignore. ?

Fell pony sale is this Saturday at NWA, (jct 36 of M6) catalogue out, other native and types follow on after.
No idea what's entered (and Fell ponies only go to 14hh) but might be worth checking out other entries?

I've already checked the catalogue and picked out a few I'd love in my field.

Shame their is no room at the Inn (or cash in the pot!) ?
