Does anyone have any experience / opinion on this? It has being suggested to me today that my pony might prefer Timothy hay dry rather than the soaked hay he is having at the moment. I have been told that it is low in sugars. TIA

It's definitely low in sugars compared to rye, and compared to most meadow. I bought it for a good doer cob, sold the cob and am now having problems keeping weight on aTB with it, fed ad lib. I have tons spare, literally, if anyone wants some.

I feed my laminitic prone good doer on timothy haylage. Its very dry, low in sugar and wrapped in small bales so easy to handle. The company I get it from sell different types of haylage and provide an analysis chart on their website so you can see the difference between the types of grasses used.

Edited to say that my other horse doesn't keep enough weight on it despite being fed ad lib amounts. But he is not like my laminitic prone boy who puts on weight if he even looks at a blade of grass!
