The eye is now removed. Took over an hour and a half (originally stated he hoped to have it done in an hour) It was more difficult that first thought as due to the glucoma and pressure that built up within the eye the orb was huge. He got all the bits tied off and hopes there will be no bleeding/haemorraging. Said throughout the op her vitals, heart rate, breathing etc were strong and regular. She came round from the anaesatitic and is v.doped up on morphine for the pain. She has 4 stitches, a drain and a very unattractive lampshade. Mark called into the vets to settle the bill *gulp* and said she was v.dopey and didn't recognise him (that was about 5 this afternoon)

Thankfully sh'll be home tomorrow morning. Picking her up at 9 and Mark has taken the day off work to look after her. (He wouldn't even do that for his wife!

She had to get an eye removed after developing glucoma and an ulcer in it. She's been blind in it for years due to a cataract so not worried about her adjusting to one eyed life. I shall post piccies tomorrow when I get her. I felt terrible leaving her as she is only used to very few people and is very wary of strangers. My poor baby girl! (She's the black lab gundog you've pron seen pics of before)

My cat had its eye removed earlier this year. When you go back to have the wadding pulled out be prepared to be shocked - urgh there's masses of it - it like a magician pulling out a string of hankerchiefs!

Hope Tina will be fine - my cat recovered incredibly quickly.

I think I shall close my eyes for that part! I didn't realise there would be stuff wadded inside it? I thought it was stitched up and that was the end of it? Hence the drain!

*feels quite nauseous at the though of wadding*

There may not be any wadding. When my dogs eye was removed it was just stitched and as it healed and the stitches were taken out the eye socket sank. Not very pretty but not as gruesome as having wadding taken out sounds.
