I have a dog that won't eat. New concept as Beastie would eat me out of house and home.
She only seems to be interested in the pouches of cat food, but I don't want to feed her an exclusive diet of tinned food.
Can anyone recommend a good quality tinned meat that I can mix into dry food?

(She had gastroenteritis last week, don't know if that makes a difference! She was on plain chicken and rice after that but she's always been fussy)

Not tinned as such but I feed our Lancashire Heeler Forthglade Natural Menu, its kept on the shelves in the pet shop but once opened kept in the fridge.

Her current favourite is the Lamb but they do all sorts of flavours and Pip is so fussy and its the nearest to raw I can get. It has good ratings on the Which food guide so its good for them as well. They also have Denes on the shelves but I havnt looked that one up to see if its any good.

Natural menu or Naturediet which are vaccuum packed or Butchers Tripe loaf tins.

Which dry food are you using?

Forget Denes, Ive just looked it up and I wouldnt feed it to my dog.

With the above foods I recommended its a complete food so no need to add biscuits. Pip has dry days when I feed Vets Kitchen Salmon & Potato and on others the Forthglade Natural menu. We tried the Nature Diet and she didnt like that one.

I think I've seen Nature Diet.

She was on Gilpa Kennel, and liked it when soaked in warm water as she doesn't seem to like big pieces of kibble. But now, she won't even eat little bits of kibble (cats dry food, OHs parent's dog's food which I believe is Iams)

Gilpa kennel is not very good and is actually expensive given it's ingredients.

Try Skinners Field & trial duck & rice or Salmon and rice. If you contact Skinners they are very good at sending samples.

I don't pay for it as my OHs dad stocks it lol. He gave her some Strangford Gold yesterday but she won't eat it either and I'm not keen to feed it, as its like a muesli? Possibly heavy with cereals?

I have never seen Skinners over here, postage to us is a fortune but I'll try find a local stockist.

If you are near a Pets At Home (there is a few in the north) they stock the frozen Natures Menu and the decent wet foods - Forthglade, Natures Diet and Fishmongers.

Skinners is all my fussy one will eat.

Just had a look on the skinners website and all the Jollye's stores stock it along with several independent places in Northern Ireland....check out the stocking locator widget on the website!

You can get Skinners in Jollyes and some Pets At Home. Give them a ring at Skinners, they are very helpful.

Pets at Home stock Nature Diet, Natures Menu, Prize Choice frozen meats, Applaws, Wainwrights wet trays and tins etc.

You could also try and source a Natural Instinct salesperson. I know there was one in Belfast.

D is picking me up after work so going to nip over to Pets at Home *shudder* and have a look.

I think as long as I can get one with tiny pieces I can get her eating. Fussy mare:p

I'm feeding Burgess Supadog salmon and rice as 'sweeties' at the moment and the kibble is tiny. It was on offer at Pets at Home, hence why I bought it **tightwad alert**
