since its been so windy up here, abbys tail has become a right tangled mess, i use detangler spray but it doesn't really do anything, so other than standing for like 2 hours pickin all the knots out does anyone hav any tips on gettin them out??

I only attempt to de-knot after washing the tail and use lots of Cowboy Magic - incredible stuff!

my friend mentioned using pledge furniture polish, supposed to be really good at de tangling although never heard of it before or used it myself!

I've used Mr Sheen for years and years, it's just a silicon spray, exactly like the really expensive mane and tail sprays but a fraction of the price. The plastic trigger bottles are better than the aerosol ones, if you can get them.

Detangles and makes them much easier to comb out without ripping the hairs out.

Beware the Pot Pourri flavour, it permeates the air for miles around!!

try a bog stanrad human haor conditioner. put loads of it onto a dry tail and massage it in to the bit below the dock. Leave for 10 mintues, comb thru then rinse out with clean water. if it feels greaasy after a really good rinse shampoo lightly and rinse again. comb thru again then fill with good quality mane and tail detangler likt cowboy magic or alva-dazzle.
works a treat and the tail comes out really really shiny!

Have you tried mane and tail cos it seems to work for me. Then put baby oil in, it stops mud clinging to it and helps keep seperated.

nomal human hair conditioner mixed with water in aspray bottle leave it for a couple of mins then brush your horses tail also works for manes to also baby oil .

a can of pledge works works just as well - without the £5 price tag of normal mane and tail stuff!

I use baby oil all winter for the mane, tail and fetlocks (to stop the mud clinging on) I use Morrisons or Superdrugs because it's much cheaper than Johnsons.
