I am so fed up with getting through countless outfits every day in this wet weather, so decided to get further waterproof clothing. I am now sporting camo waterproof trousers from the Army surplus store, they are AMAZING! Waterproof, breathable, fit over my wellies easily and I even rode in them today!!!

Anyone else got any other good tips for coping during this torrential rain?

I don't actually own any waterproof trousers! I hate them. But I think I might actually have to give in and go and find some tomorrow as it is just getting silly.

And I put a fence post through my new wellies so don't have any waterproof footwear either :( Poor me!

My top tip is a long soak in a hot bath to wash off the ingrained mud and smell of wet horse, followed by a glass of Baileys, safe in the knowledge that the horses are safely tucked up in their nice warm stables on this horrid night!!
Interestingly, my new horse who supposedly prefers to live out, is more than happy to come in now she has a stable to call her own, and my welshie spent all morning whining to come back in!!
I've given up on riding this week, I can't use the fields and the lane is totally flooded and new horse is just getting her confidence to go through small puddles so I don't want to overface her with a river!
My wellies have holes in, but I refuse to buy another pair this side of summer, so I shall be wearing carrier bags inside them at Badminton, if it goes ahead!
My top tip for Badminton is to get hammered so you don't notice the mud!!

Ski suit & a wax hat with a big rim. Remember to nip in to the shop on the way too, not from the yard, as you have to draw the line somewhere. Invest in waterproof carseat covers.

Where is the cheapest place to buy waterproof trews. I'm going into town not the tack shop so I'm thinking Blacks/Millets/places like that?

My long waterproof coat, Aussie hat and mudruckers have been fab - much prefer long coat to waterproof trousers for riding :)

Poo picked today and stayed nice and dry and did a short trot hack (40 mins). I am rapidly losing my sense of humour now though. There is a little ODE next weekend that I have tried to do for 4 years now. First 3 years pony was either lame or recovering from being lame and not fit. This year she is fine and chances are it is cancelled due to stupid weather. Cross doesn't even come close!! :(

My little mare insisted on coming in tonight though - she is normally out but refused to leave the yard despite several attempts and was happy in her stable (normally she hates being in). It is foul here tonight though - the wind is awful now, I think she knew it was coming!

I got my ski ones for about £7 in the sale in one of the outdoor shops in ely. Tkmaxx might be worth a look JT they always have cheap ski and waterproof stuff.

Same with my Nitty pony. She never, ever wants to be in. But last night she was literally running up and down the fence screaming to come in. So unlike her. Even she has given up with up with the weather!!

ETS: I can't afford a beautiful Musto Suffolk so will have to go with cheapy trews instead in the mean time :(
