Hi. Does anyone have any tips/tricks of how to disguise the taste of gabapentin and paracetamol in feed (happy hoof and chaff). I'm putting mint taste in but he still won't eat it properly? Will sugar free apple sauce work do you think? Sugar free orangeade? I'm at my wits end with him or is it just best to syringe but he sticks his head in the air. Will needs stepladders soon.

Grind tablets to a powder put in water and add Dr oatker peppermint essence and syringe.

It's such a strong flavour it disguises most things has no added sugar and it's cheap from the supermarket, I use it to get prascend into one of mine everyday and his happy to have it syringed, I have used it in the feeds as well so maybe try that if you don't want to syringe.

Try just the mint in the syringe first on its own for a few time so it's a nice taste I find then they accept the syringe better.

Mine will eat bute in a spoonful of apple sauce mixed in the feed, so it must mask the smell. She can normally smell a few grains in her tea!

I dissolve my mare's pranscend tablets in some apple juice and pop it in her chaff - works a treat.

I’ve just started with prascend and my vet suggested using the gelatine capsules to contain the pill. Has anyone else tried them? You can get veggie versions

1 carrot in a blender mixed with water. It turns in to a watery puree. Put meds in that and syringe in. Worked for mine when lamintic and needed meds.

Be careful adding anything that has a lot of sugar, a carrot is full of sugar as are apples even things that say” no added sugar” do not mean they have no sugar.

I’m currently using a mix of these two things to dissolve the medication into and syringe into
