Just been reading the "Dog Trust" Autumn magazine and here are some of their tips for doggies that are frickled (frightened) by fireworks

Try your best NOT to comfort them as you may encourage his fears.Ignore them as much as possible when he seems scared so that he learns to cope with it on his own.If you give him to much fuss,he'll think there really is sometihng to be scared of Once he as calmed down give him love and attention-so thathe knows he's acting in the right way.
A stodgy high carb meal for example well cooked rice or mashed potatoes in the late afternoon will help make your dog sleepy and calm during the evening. Also make sure they have pooped and wee'd before it goes dark
Try to keep your dog busy during the noise with games or reward based training to keep their minds off the noise.
Buy some doggie EARPLUGS!!!!! from pet store or use large wads of cotton wool!!!!!
Use DAP or get vet to prescribe Diazepam this will not stop your dog being scared on the night but will give short term memory loss so he won't remember what as happened in the morning
They do have a factsheet on their website

Beastie snores her way through them. The younger gundog as a pup was terrified of them, but fine as soon as she was taught around the gun. Older lab is now officially stone deaf so we don't have to worry about him!

My two german shepherds arent that worried, i bring them in at night all october as some people are letting fireworks off already.

The older dog just lies and sleeps while the younger one just moves her ears around

Poppy will bark for about 10 minutes, but once she realises that we aren't bothered she'll go to sleep. The other dog is deaf so it isn't a problem

My stoopid cocker doesn't really notice fireworks. She sits in the garden watching them and chewing a bone. Mind you, she couldn't care less about thunder and lightning either. We've been caught out walking in horrendous storms this year and nothing fazed her.

Going to have fun with the mongrel, though- loud bangs terrify her.
