We are getting adequate marks in elementary but often getting the comment that we need to be lighter off forehand.

Any advice as to exercises we could do please?

Horse "sits" quite well in canter, usually get 7s but back to 6s for trot!

I am fairly petite on large horse and was wondering if it would be better to sit the trot to give me a stronger seat?

Any suggestions would be welcome thanks!

Lots of pole work at different stridings so you can practice moving the trot forwards and back to get the 'sit' whilst the poles ensure you get activity and elevation - has worked wonders for me our trot is now a reliable 7-8 instead od the 5-6 it was before!

LOADS and LOADS of transitions, between paces and within......

Shoulder in trot, walk trans, back to trot, staying in shoulder in.

:)

Not sure sitting trot is the answer to this one, but a good thing to work on generally to develop your seat.

Thank you all for your great suggestions, will start trying them out next time we school and hopefully the marks will start to rise!
