Subject to vetting (which is happening tomorrow morn :S ) we'll be bringing my new horse home tomorrow afternoon :)
Any tips or suggestions to help him settle in? I've never actually had a new horse arrive at a yard before (with my previous horses we've both been at the same yard when I got them, and in one case I moved to the horse's yard :o). I've been down to the yard today to get his stable and field ready, v exciting :)

No wonder you are excited, hope the vetting goes ok.

I am no expert as George is my first horse, but when I got him I put some of his poo/straw from his old stable into a bucket and then sprinkled it around his new stable to make him feel at home! I also made sure I had some of the feed he was used to.

The first day I took him for a walk in hand around the yard, the menage etc. to help him (and me!) get his bearings.

Good luck.

Let him take his own time coming out of the trailer/horse box, try not to have a crowd hanging around watching. Let him have a good stare at everything before taking him into his stable, nice deep bed, a bucket of water and a big pile of hay and let him alone in there for a bit ...
