dont suppose anyone has any good ideas for me ive got a 10 yrold exracehorse and hes fine when hes out on his ow or with 2 or 3 horses but the minuite hes with more hes a bit to strong and i want to hunt him this season so if anyone got any good tips on what bits to use or anything i would really appreciate it (:

Schooling, schooling, schooling hun. He's only doing what he's always been taught, ie a group of horses = a race. You need to help him understand that the rules have changed. It won't be a 2 week job - could take forever and he could always get excited in company. How long have you had him? Why did you buy him knowing he'd raced?

My first loan horse was an ex racer and stronger bits are not the answer. Agree wit BOF - schooling schooling schooling. He is only doing what he is trained to do & this will take time. Why don't you contact one of the charities that specialise (Heroes or Racehorse to Riding Horse, sorry not sure of their proper names but Google them) Hunting may never be an option. Good luck & be patient

Mine always got v. excited when I took him anywhere where there were other horses. Could you have some trips with some calm outings - unaff dressage or small show for example. He did calm down at such places eventually, but when I stopped competing for a year after having a baby he was back to his old self again.
