I've had a sort out in my tack room and have decided to sell some of my unused / unwanted tack, riding equipment, rugs, etc on ebay. Does anyone have any tips or pointers as to the best way of going about this?

Thanks

a good appealing title, name the brand if it has one or a strong point to the item in the title
nice clear tidy advert as it were and a good picture
thats it really, i love buying and selling on ebay!

Except for low value stuff sell items separately. Postage is very expensive now so don't underestimate it or you could lose money. Offer to do a special postage deal for multiple purchases though.

Buy It Now is often very popular if somebody needs something in a hurry so offer this if possible ( - I think you need 5 or 10 positive feedback before you can do this).

Set up a Paypal account, you pay around 3.5% in fees but it can encourage buyers as it avoids the need to wait for cheques to clear.

Block bidders with very little feedback that it all negative. Just sell within the UK until you have a bit more practice.

Describe items clearly, size, colour, condition etc. and add photos. Be honest, otherwise negative feedback will mess up future sales.

Happy e-baying.

Put a photo on the gallery page so people can see the item without having to click into it. If I'm looking for something specific I often can't be bothered to drill into the title to look at the photo. Lazy I know!

Oh, and clean everything up. It amazes me how people will advertise skanky filthy bits of tack.

Take a good sharp photo and be careful what you have in the background!

Thanks for all your help! I'm hoping to get enough money together from my sort out to buy my horse a nice new dressage saddle!
