Made the slight error of buying new lorry before selling old lorry - have borrowed money from loan shark (no, not really...). Definitely will be advertising with H&H online (don't have time to wait for magazine to come out..). However, are there any other websites that have yielded fast responses from serious buyers? Any experiences using ebay - does it get you a decent/ fair price?

To be honest, if you need to sell something quick then Ebay is going to be about the best bet, but you will have to be realistic about what price you are going to get for it.

If you started the auction at 20% less that you want for it, then you could generate some bidding interest, but you also run the risk of having to accept this amount for your lorry.

Wherever you advertise it, make sure your photos are excellent. If going with Ebay, I would suggest you put "Sold as seen, no returns, no tyre kickers - you are bidding to buy". Do state the reason though, as it can seem suspicious otherwise.

I used horsemart and i sold my truck in 24hrs :) :) IMHO ebay is waste of time, as folks want good stuff for nothing and ebay's fee is high, if selling high value stuff, and you also need good selling %

Other good websites are horsedeals and horsequest.

If it was me, i would do a bit of reseach about how to write your ad, plus the market value of your truck. Then i would write ad making sure you list of all truck features eg servicing record, mot, and then say about horse area floor etc.. and then use good angle to show folk your lorry of eg both sides, then photos of back down to show horse are and then any living space.

Also add that folks can ask for more photos to be emailed, so atleast you'll stop any tyre kickers

good luck

Thanks - will try those sites - looked at ebay seller fee and the % cut they take is quite hefty. I have good feedback as buyer and seller, but I think people do want something for nothing... Given the number of ads I looked at in trying to find my new lorry, I have a vague idea of what to say, and what pictures help - definitely cleaning it out first helps!! Can't believe the number of people trying to sell a lorry full of dirty straw, or pictures taken in the almost dark!! Luckily, having just had a respray, new floor and ramp, plus new rubber matting to walls (and then I repainted the whole inside of it...) its quite photogenic. Do pictures of horses inside it help in people's opinions??

What size is it?
I am sort of looking for one compact as poss but capable of carrying 2 horses legally and safely.
I have an old style licence so can go up to 7.5 tonnes
PM if you prefer.

Im looking for a box at the moment and i seem to be spending most of my life on Horsemart, Horse Deals, Horse Quest, Ebay (although i dont think i would buy via the site) and have now started to look and Friday Ads and other free sites just in case.
Good pictures are a must, one from the bottom of the ramp and if you have a horse in there it can help with size/headroom. Pics of the living are usefull and one full lenght shot to show how long a box is.
The one thing i have been doing is sending a email off asking about the unlayden weight, if you can include this it would help and i would just ring straight off. Dont see the point of ringing finding its too heavy and you end the call there and then but thats just personnal preference.
Good luck selling.

I have a weigh bridge 1 mile up the road, so I will go get an unladen weight - I certainly found this a big plus knowing the weight when looking for my 3.5t... Think cos its an Ally box it should be quite light and therefore have a decent payload, so that will be a selling advantage I hope! Have taken those kind of pictures, just need to grab one of my ponies (ok, a 16.2 isn't a pony..). Need to get photos uploaded and onto some websites! If I advertise on H&H online, you can all see my ad! And buy my lorry :-)!!

Well, its advertised on H&H in the horseboxes section (under 5k!) and horsemart and horsedeals and preloved and freeads... Any other suggestions? Raffle it?! Daffie has only done 4458 miles since having engine rebuilt - someone is going to get a bargain!!

looking at this with interest...I am trying to sell our lorry as my daughter has given up her horse while she is at uni ...quick sale needed as it is in our drive at present.

Horsedeals appears to get the most "hits" but despite putting it at what I think is a reasonable price and having good photos I have only had one phone call. It is on horsedeals and horsemart and just on horsehunter....so any good suggestions of where else gets a lot of "hits" welcome. " Admittedly it is not a glossy paint job type ( its a aluminium box 5 yrs old on a fleet vehicle) but it is not that old as lorries go...R reg and great mechanically, starting etc..

I think there are not a lot of people buying the larger boxes up to 7.5 ton compared with the number available.

I would advertise locally tack shops etc Ive sold quite a few things on ebay however it suprises me how much people are willing to bid for junk and how little for nice tidy stuff, but as other posters say its worth a try and yes make sure there are plenty of good pictures and a concise description...start your listing with the lowest price you will accept, no reserve...

Problem with this is the 10% seller fee ebay charges you.. so this kinda has to be factored in because if I need to get £X minimum for it, I need to start it at £X+10% .... I'm a bit wary about people backing out of sale etc too...
