Tips on dust free stabling needed..

never groom in the stable, don't muck out with Horse in the stable, let bed settle for at least 20-30 minutes before putting Horsey in, full muck out everyday, feed from the floor to keep the nostrils clear as when feeding from a net its easier for dust to get in the nose, soak hay for at least an hour, de cob web stables often and wipe the walls with a cloth.

Is the Horse he is next too stabled on straw? I had to move my mare to a different stable so she could be next to a Horse kept on shavings. This helped massively.

I also fed liquorice root powder which was fab (used to clear my nose just adding it to the feed)

We do all those things except feeding from the floor.

Where do you get your liquorice root powder from?

The horse beside him is bedded on pellets but there is a tack room in between them.

I had to order it in to my local tackshop, but have ordered it online before.

I don't know if you have heard of a Haycube before but they are brilliant. So easy to move around and you can fit so much hay in them http://www.haycube.co.uk/ they are pricey but last a while. I had 2 over 6 years and only sold my second one as Horse now lives out. Made a huge difference to my mare. At one point her coughing was so bad that I could not do more then walk her. But it can be managed and once I figured what worked then I hardly heard her cough.

Haycubes look fantastic :) Will definitely investigate further if I'm feeding soaked hay long term.

At the moment I'm doing a trial with small bale haylage to see if it makes any difference.

Fingers crossed the haylage works out :) I did trial it also and whilst it helped her coughing lessen, it made her super spooky and sharp!
