Hi! I've started looking for a full loan pony and I'm wondering where to look? I've been recommended making a post on a horsey fb group, but I've checked all the fb groups with ponies for loan and they all seem to be people looking for ponies to loan and not actual ponies available for loan. I wondered if there is anywhere else I could find a pony for loan?

Best just to make up an ad with as much info as possible in it. Ie how much experience you’ve had, height and age of horse, where you’ll keep it and how you’re going to cover costs. There will be some ponies available for loan but expect the owners to be very fussy about the home it’s going to. Maybe worth look8ng at your local PC / RC websites. Having had a bad experience lending a pony to someone many years ago l wouldn’t ever consider this but l might offer someone the opportunity to come and ride a pony, l would then be able to keep an eye or how they managed. Ponies are expensive to buy and even more expensive to mend if they get broken.

Exactly this - I have loaned horses but I would never advertise them, having had a terrible experience in the past...and that was in the days before social media groups and all the scammers on there.

I've only loaned out via word of mouth, and my own loan horses have all come to me via word of mouth / friends. The only exception is a 'loan' I had from a riding school, the horse was still used in lessons but I could go and ride a certain number of times a week in return for a loan fee.

If you spell out your own credentials on a wanted ad, you might find some loans come out of the woodwork! Good luck :)

When my daughter outgrew our beloved and highly talented pony, I loaned him out through our pony club, and then neighbouring pony clubs…could you contact your local one, or even your local riding club…..
