I'm thinking of going over to buy a horse in Ireland, for showjumping and county level working hunter. I know about donedeal, but does anyone have any tips for horse purchasing and buying in Ireland? I know I've missed Goresbridge by a week, but its important to me to ride the horse in the trial rather than just see it jumped by someone else. I'd be looking for a 6-7 yo, but the other thread seems to imply that all the good ones are sold before then, so maybe not the best place to find a sort of younger schoolmaster type?

Yes an awful lot are sold younger but you'd definitely find something around the 6-7 years mark - when I was looking for my boy I saw a lot advertised. Maybe try a few dealers - I'm sure there are plenty of people on here who can recommend a few.

In fact, I will PM you now!

It may be worth pm-ing the wonderful measles; she has some great contacts in Ireland and may well know of something to suit. By all accounts she can pick a good 'un :)
